Body Odor Folk Remedies

Offensive Body odor is a problem for many people, and it caused by a variety of things, such as excessive sweating, which in turn causes the person to sweat out strong food odors such as onions or garlic. The bacteria that builds up as a result causes offensive body odor.

The use of commercial deodorants and antiperspirants isn’t recommended as these will interfere with the body’s sweat glands and has been linked to cancer in the lymph nodes.

Most commercial antiperspirants are aluminum based and will clog the pores. Instead, there are very effective natural alternatives to decrease body odor and excessive sweating.

Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar are both good for lowering the natural PH of the skin and odor causing bacteria can not live in a low PH environment. Just rub vinegar under Baking Soda for body odor remedythe armpit instead of deodorant. The vinegar smell will disappear shortly.

Baking soda is one of the best alternatives to using commercial deodorants available.

Just dust baking soda under the armpits on dry skin and it will absorb moisture as well as kill odor causing bacteria.  It’s also good to put into shoes to help with smelly, sweaty feet.

It has been reported that Zinc can actually help to reduce body odor. Zinc supplements can be obtained at any health food or vitamin store. However, you may be better served if you seek out foods that are naturally high in Zinc

Sage natural remedy for body odorSage has natural antiperspirant properties. Sage tea is an excellent way to decrease all over body odor. Sage  helps to reduce the output of excessive sweating due to over active sweat glands.

Put 1 and ½ teaspoons of dried sage into a cup of hot water and let steep for about 10 minutes. Drink this in small doses throughout the day, about a teaspoon each time.

It should be noted the women who are pregnant should not use Sage internally.

Tea Tree Oil can also be used to reduce body odor. Tea Tree Oil has mild antiseptic properties, but it may cause dermatitis in some people. It is recommended that you use it in small amounts at first to be sure that it will not cause problems for you.

Mix three tbsp. vanilla extract in one cup of water. You may also add one tsp. rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) to the mixture. Pour this into a spray bottle and spray it on your clothes and body.
